‘The Creative Appliance Project’ (CAP) is a challenging ‘Apprentice’ / ‘Shark Tank’ style program in which teams are required to design and build a prototype for an oversized appliance that uses the ‘design thinking tools’ & ‘agility’ and reflects the company’s vision, mission and values before giving a sales pitch to a judging panel. This process helps to facilitate innovative team collaboration in a rapid change context and encourages a consideration of the impact of organizational values on attitudes and behaviours. The lively and fun process also assists with internalising and communicating shared values.

Applications

  • Connect the core values of the organization with organizational actions to build commitment and engagement.
  • Create strategies for communicating the organizational core values and vision through products and/or services.
  • Demonstrate effective combined outcomes and team performance through positive role division and execution.
  • Help participants understand the concepts of: AGILE, RAPID PROTOTYPING, EMPATHY MAPPING, PERSONA TECHNIQUE and MVC (Minimal Viable Concept), which are key concepts in a Design Thinking approach (CSI). Deep Dive extension options include tying in with the Business Canvas Model for identifying strategic actions & organizational narrative for identifying vision, mission, values.

Try & Apply:

‘Capstone Project versions are multifaceted assignments that serve as a culminating experience at the end of the program & learning-pathway experience. These sessions are designed to encourage participants to think critically, solve challenging problems, and develop skills such as: connecting core values & branding, oral communication, public speaking, research, teamwork, planning, self-sufficiency, and goal setting, all in a safe practice environment where they can be assessed to ensure success.
