ABOUT:

Schneider Electric is the world’s power and control specialist. Through its world-class brands – including Merlin Gerin, Square D and Telemecanique – Schneider Electric anticipates and satisfies its customers’ requirements in the residential, building, industry, energy and infrastructure markets.

DESIRE:

Schneider Electric has developed an international program to ensure their upcoming leaders are well-equipped. 35 leaders from almost 26 countries come together each year for 2 weeks to prepare to work together on a 1-year project, continuing to work on the projects virtually when they go back to their respective countries will have to continue the project.

SOLUTION:

Tirian worked with these new leaders from differing cultures to:

  • align work practices
  • develop a common language
  • create an environment where participants could dialogue between cultures to share best practices.
  • ensure a shared vision and understanding
  • help the teams to establish team identities, goals and project plans

OUTCOMES ACHIEVED:

Each year the team was evaluated on their success, and every time they were able to achieve their goals and develop critical leadership skills in the process that would help them to succeed in their leadership roles and rise to senior positions more easily.

“This program was fantastic, it was very interesting for me and will support me to develop better performance in a project work.”

“This helped me obtain a greater understanding of the issues and best practices of working in a team.”

In the end each cohort of 35 program participants from the 26 different cultures learnt to work together to create specific action plans and templates to guide theme as a cross cultural virtual team, and to generate valuable solutions through their projects.
